Norman Rockwell's creations - wonderful pictures of Victorian villages under the snow, children eagerly expecting the arrival of the Great St. Nicholas while carolers walking around the village singing Christmas carols. Thinking to families dressing a beautiful Christmas tree and drinking the traditional eggnog makes us feel joyful. These are the reasons why many people want vintage Christmas ornaments for decorating their homes. Unfortunately, really vintage ornaments are not only costly but also very difficult to find. Few years ago, this nostalgic trend for items from earlier days caused a boom in such items and opened the way for a new kind of industry: the artistic creation of vintage Christmas ornaments. Nowadays, it is easy to get "vintage" Christmas items, made out of silver and/or tin, as there are a lot of both regular retail as well as online stores specialized in that kind of market. Hand-blown, one-of-a-kind glass ornaments to dazzle the eye, vintage twenties looking tin ornaments with the first renditions of jolly old Saint Nick, and softly glowing bubble lights in an array of beautiful colors.
Maybe an old fashioned way tin tree top star or arrow on the top of the tree decorated with a view coming from Norman Rockwell's imagination or a silver and gold foil angel. A homemade garland of popcorn hanged on the tree along with glass 'icicles' glowing by the light of burning candles. These small "present" looking ornaments and other glass, tin, silver, gold, tin or cotton decorations that look like fruits, vegetables, birds. At one time people would put tiny candles in holders only made for such a purpose all over the tree. In reality, this use was a very high-risk idea as it resulted in a huge number of fire; however modern times brought to us many other options that look like real old timey candle without the open fire.
Wreaths made of foil and tin with brass bells attached are now available in addition to the even more traditional wreaths made of pine boughs and holly with gold pine cones and leaves dried flowers. Garlands made of thin pine limbs interlaced with hempen twine and decorated with holly berries and pine cones are an additional favorite old timey and vintage Christmas ornament. For many of us, Christmas is a time to relax and think of an old time when things weren't so harried. While we forget the humdrum of our life as well as the nine to five, we make use of the Christmas period to dream with some nostalgia to Victorian wintertimes, when humans, like every other creature on earth, had a bit of rest. It is for sure the reason why many of us love the beautiful and gorgeous vintage Christmas ornaments: they create for us the warm and soft ambiance of the past. So do not wait to raise Norman Rockwell's imaginary and foremost, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
